Protein Packed Snack – All Flavors

For my first recipe, I wanted to share these easy, protein packed snacks that are perfect on-the-go before or after the gym, after school, or even as a dessert! These Protein-packed Energy bites are all you need! They are so easy to whip up in about 20 minutes on the weekend and fill the snack times of the week with a healthy treat.

Protein Bites are such a hit in my house, my husband requests them on every hunting trip, my kids ask for them as dessert or as a snack, and I look at them as a quick breakfast on the go some mornings.  I always have them available in the fridge for grab and go convenience.  They are so simple and the flavor combinations are endless!

Base Ingredients:

Nut Butter:  The runnier, the better – It is tough to stir the ingredients with a more solid or thick nut butter.  Natural nut butters with oil separation work really well.  You can even use seed butter if you are allergic to nuts!

Oats: I choose to use Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats because their consistency is perfect for no-bake recipes.  During their processing, they are steamed and rolled so they have a flatter, more flexible texture to them.

Honey: A spoonful of sugar helps everything, right? This tad of sweetness helps to better balance the overly protein flavor and helps these to pass as dessert some nights.

Protein Powder: For these protein bites, my favorite is to use a plant-based, organic protein powder.  I have used whey protein with great success but didn’t care for the taste as much.  The consistency was more moist with the plant-based protein powder.

Flaxseed: Be sure to use a ground flaxseed in this recipe – it helps to incorporate all of the other ingredients better.

From these base ingredients, the flavor combinations seem to be endless! Check them out in the recipe card below!
